opinion story
I'm sure most people have their own opinions on this sensitive topic, but allow me to share my my own. Is the death penalty just? Do you think our judicial system should be able to kill people for for violent crimes?
Many people will probably say that it is completely just, but to me, that just seems like revenge. "An eye for an eye only makes the world blind" is a phrase that is commonly used to describe scenarios very similar to this specific one.
Basically, why would you kill a person for them killing another person/people? If the crime is
is already incredibly violent, they probably already will get get a sentence similar to a life sentence.
All that just seems like getting revenge on someone for something that they did that may have made you angry. If we kill a killer, what are we accomplishing. Doesn't that makes us the killers now?
If we send someone to jail for life instead of killing them, some people might argue that it is is a
a fate worse than death. Going to jail is like giving up all your freedom and handing it over to the
the guards.
It's either that or ending it all and never having to worry about it again.I get thetis sounds a little morbid, but these things need to be considered before we take a man's life just to make us feel better.
Don't get me wrong, I think that there should still be death. But I don't think we should be able to to decide. The public shouldn't be able to have this much say on a person's life. I think that the inmate should be able to choose death if they do not want to go to prison. But only if their entrance is life prison. Otherwise, people might use it as an easy way out for no good reason.
But there also is the other thing. Some people probably do like prison. Or at least tolerate it
it enough so that they would much rather have that over a death penalty. Almost to the point of that
the the convict feels like they aren't being hurt in any way.
